Since the age of two, one of the distinctive features of Frances’s questions has been that they lack context for us: they appear out of the blue.
I usually isolate a question in my panels, but they almost always occur in a series of rapid-fire, oftentimes seemingly unrelated, queries.
In the following panel, she is seven years old.
Frances’s focus on animals, which is very intense, at once somehow reflects both her philosophical and scientific turn of mind and her childlike wonder. (The cat is a major motif throughout my art journal.) In this panel, she is seven years old.
